- English scientific name: Corydoras duplicareus Sands
- Origin distribution: Brazil
- Adult fish body length: 4-5cm
- Suitable temperature:22~29℃
Brief introduction of morphological characteristics:
Corydoras duplicareus Sands It, along with its sister species, the Red-headed Mouse Fish (C. adolfoi), is one of the representative species within the Red-headed Mouse Fish family. Interestingly, the two are very similar. The primary visual difference is that the former has a black vertical stripe stretching from its back to its tail stem, which is about twice as wide as that of the latter. This is the origin of its species nickname ‘duplicareus’ (derived from the word ‘duplicare’, which means ‘double’ or ‘to double’). This species is a common and affordably priced Mouse Fish, native to habitats with tannin-stained water. It thrives best in slightly acidic to neutral soft water to maintain its health and the striking orange-red hue of its head.
